James L. Van Egeren, 81, Green Bay, died March 7, 2012, at North Collier Hospital in Naples Florida surrounded by his family. He was born on July 24, 1930, son of the late Harold and Bernadette “Bing” (Donovan) Van Egeren. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and the University Of Wisconsin Law School. Jim had a love of athletics, he boxed and played football in high school. He was also a member of the University of Wisconsin Varsity Crew Team. It was at the University where he met the love of his life, Burnell Stoehr. They were married on August 8, 1953 in Gresham, WI. Jim entered the army in 1954 and was a member of the Military Police. He served until 1956 when he was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant. After working with Northwestern Mutual in Milwaukee and B.C. Zeigler in West Bend he came back to Green Bay and was a Trust Officer at Kellogg Citizens National Bank and then practiced law with Kaftan-Van Egeren and Gilson for many years. Always an avid sailor, Jim enjoyed sailing in Door County on the waters of Green Bay and Lake Michigan. He loved to travel and visited many new places in our beautiful country with his family. Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Burnell; four children: Suzanne, Milwaukee; Michael (Rachael Fosnot), Madison; Mark (Kelley), Madison; Sara (Steve Wegner), Portland, Oregon; and a granddaughter, Matilda Jane “Tilly Jane” Wegner. He is also survived by his brother, John (Joan) Van Egeren; sister-in-law, Jo Van Egeren; brother-in-law, Bruce (Jane) Stoehr; sister-in-law, Faye (Stan) Kiefer; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tom Van Egeren; and his parents-in-law, Henry and Opal Stoehr. Family and friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, on Friday, March 30, 2012, from 4:30 p.m. until the parish prayer service that concludes the visitation at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Dr., Allouez, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at the church on Saturday, with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating.
