James "Jim" Metzler

James J. Metzler, age 74, of Allouez, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2017 with his family by his side. The son of Edward and Mabel (Jacques) Metzler began his life on December 20, 1942 in De Pere. During his working life he operated The New Place II, Metz’s on B’Street, and worked as an insurance agent. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, baseball, softball, hunting, and playing cards. His numerous involvements include being an official for the WIAA for over 30 years, as well as serving on the school boards for Luxemburg-Casco and Green Bay. He was supported the last 15 years by his rock, strength, and love of his life, Pat Jones, who survives him. Other survivors include his children: Kim (Mike) Server, Kevin (Dawn) Metzler, Jamie (Dileny) Metzler, Jeffrey (Alexis) Jones and Nicholas (Amanda) Jones; grandchildren: Shannon (Doug) Drewiske and their children Carter, Emerson and Primm; Crystal Champeau and her children Darius, Maleigha and Anthony; Brett (Mehgan) Metzler and their son Max; Kamran Metzler; Steffanie and Corinn Jones, Jaiden, Ty and Chloe Jones; daughter-in-law Lydia Jones; Kim, Kevin and Jamie’s mother Linda Metzler; sisters and brother: Millie (John) Phillips, Elaine (Elroy) Kaster and Hub Metzler, sister-in-law Pat Metzler, as well as a special nephew, Tim Metzler, other nieces, nephews, family and friends. In addition to his parents, Edward and Mabel, Jim was preceded in death by a son Christopher Jones; a brother Fran Metzler, and sister-in-law Mary Metzler. Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere, on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 2:00pm until the time of service at 5:00pm. Entombment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Our family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the caregivers of Unity Hospice, and also to Pat, his rock, for their wonderful care.
