James "Jim" Brennan

James “Jim” Brennan, 82, De Pere, passed away Tuesday evening, October 8, 2013, after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage. The son of the late Lyman E. and Alma A. (Van Gruensven) Brennan was born on April 3, 1931, in De Pere. He was a graduate of East De Pere High School. On June 2, 1951, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Lois, at St. Mary Catholic Church in De Pere. She preceded him in death on January 10, 1999. Jim served in the Naval Reserves. Jim was a proud owner of Brennan Buick Inc., where he instilled in his employees the belief to treat every customer like family. James William Roland was a member of the De Pere Optimist Club. He enjoyed playing golf with his buddies of over 30 years, Galen Vincent, Ron Pigeon, Roger Janssen, after their round they enjoyed playing a modified version of “Crazy 8”. He also enjoyed playing golf in Florida with his “over the hill gang”. From the balcony of his Florida Condo he loved watching the evening sunsets. Jim enjoyed a competitive game of cribbage which he usually took money from Dan, and ultimately would be won by his daughter, Plee. Jim is survived by his children, Mike (Patty) Brennan, Patricia (Plee) Brennan, Dan Brennan (special friend Tina), Bill Brennan; nine grandchildren, Jamie (Travis) Glandt, Matthew (Kate) Brennan, Melisia (Jake) Bell, Ryan Brennan, Kayla Brennan, Hunter Brennan, Beau Brennan, Tyler Brennan, Charlie Thomas; nine great-grandchildren, Parker, Dayton, Kinsley Glandt, Riley and Brayden Brennan, Mason Bell, Silas Brennan, Luciano and Aaliyah Brennan; two special former daughters-in-law, Vicky and Brenda; one loving and caring sister, Bonnie (Mike) Dewick; sister-in-law, Bette Brennan; brothers-in-law, Herbert (Jim) Desnoyers, Merle Baeten; many other relatives and friends. Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Lois; daughter, Susan Brennan; parents, Lyman and Alma; brother, Roland; brother and sister-in-law, Richard (Eunice); sister, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Desnoyers; nephew, Dan Desnoyers; sister-in-law, Patricia Baeten. Family and friends may visit on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Dr., Ledgeview, from 8:30am until 12:15pm. A Mass of Christian Burial for Jim will be celebrated at 12:30pm, Saturday, at the church with Rev. Judah S.Pigon,MF officiating. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Jim’s name. A special thank you to the staffs of Bellin Hospital and Unity Hospice for their care and concern given to Jim and his family during this difficult time.
