James "Jeff" Jeffers

August 18, 1923 — July 25, 2016

James I. “Jeff” Jeffers, age 92, of Allouez, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016. The son of the late Frank and Effie (Piper) Jeffers was born August 18, 1923 in Wausau. He graduated from New London High School and later attained a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Lawrence University. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, and married Corrinne M. Mueller on August 24, 1957 in Plymouth. Jeff made a career selling insurance for Allstate for 28 years. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cribbage, golfing, bowling and playing bridge. His numerous accomplishments include shooting a hole in one while golfing and bowling a 297 game. Perhaps most of all, he loved the game of cribbage, having founded a grass roots program in Green Bay for the American Cribbage Congress and consistently placing high in cribbage tournaments. He once came in fourth of a field of 180 players, having played an incredible 27 games in one day. Jeff was a member of the Elk’s Club, American Legion and American Cribbage Congress. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Corrinne, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, three sisters, including his twin sister and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law. Per Jeff’s wishes, private services have been held. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family. Burial will be in Plymouth, WI. We would like to thank the wonderful staff of Unity Hospice, as well as everyone at Bellevue Retirement Community for their care, concern and support. We also want to thank Fr. Paul DeMuth and Bishop Robert Morneau and good friends Sue, Pat, April, Max, Kathy for all their help
