James D. Baeten 90, formerly of De Pere passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital of natural causes.


Jim is survived by his wife of 67 years, Harriet (Juza) and their four children, Michael (Pam) Baeten, Green Bay, Joseph (Georgette) Baeten, FL, Gwynne (Karl) Ebert, FL, and Gregory (Berta) Baeten, Green Bay; 5 Grandchildren – James (Daisy) and Travis (Stephanie) Ebert, Alex and Dean (Cassie) Baeten, Cathy Baeten, as well as one great grandchild, Oakley Baeten. Additionally, Jim is survived by his brother Don (Florence), two sister-in- laws; Lou Baeten (Dick) and Mary Ann Ceasar (Terry), brother-in-law Jim (Penny) Juza and many nieces & nephews.


Jim was preceded in death by both his parents, both his father and mother-in-law, two of his brothers; Dick Baeten and Bob Baeten (Mary Ann), and a brother-in law, Terry Ceasar.


Jim was born in De Pere, as the youngest of four children born to Daniel and Elsie Baeten. He graduated from [East] De Pere High School. After graduation he served in the US Air Force for four years as a radio technician. Following His honorable discharge, he met the love of his life, marrying Harriet (Terri) Juza on October 22, 1955, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Green Bay. He attended St Norbert College, and graduated cum laude with a degree in Business. He had a successful Sales career with Dean Foods/Freshlike until his retirement.


When their kids were young, Jim enjoyed “going up north” with the family and taught his kids to fish, water ski, and enjoy the great outdoors. Later he and Terri loved traveling with friends and family to places like Australia, The Holy Land, Germany, Alberta, Canada, Indonesia and Republic of Panama. Jim enjoyed playing golf and bowling, loved the Green Bay Packers. He stayed fit playing racket ball at the YMCA. After retirement, he volunteered with Christian Outreach for several years.


Jim was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church; he was a man of faith and he loved reading the Bible. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always quick with a warm smile. He will be deeply missed by his family.


Family and friends may visit at Resurrection Catholic Parish, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez (Green Bay) on Friday, April 14, from 9:30am until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am with Fr. Tom Reynebeau officiating. The mass will be live streamed at gbres.org/live. Full military honors will be accorded to Jim after mass. Entombment will be in Allouez Mausoleum. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.


In lieu of flowers and other expressions of sympathies, memorials in Jim’s name will be collected for Resurrection’s mission in Okolona, Mississippi. Please make checks payable to Resurrection Parish and send them in care of Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Ave, De Pere, WI 54115.

The family would like to thank the St. Vincent Hospital staff who took care of Jim and the family at their time of need.
