James Coller

February 19, 1945 — May 7, 2024

James G. Coller died on May 7, 2024. He was born on February 19, 1945, to Gordon and Elinore (Schicker) Coller in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Jim served the healthcare industry for over 40 years, first working his way through college as an orderly and surgical technician at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. During the Vietnam War, he was medical corpsman in the US Army at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He completed a Master in Guidance at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and a Master in Healthcare Administration at The George Washington University.

Jim’s career began as Assistant Administrator at Holy Family Hospital in Manitowoc, Wisconsin before becoming Vice President of Operations at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh. For over 25 years, he served as President of St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center in Green Bay. At the time of his retirement in 2010, Jim was President and CEO of St. Mary’s and St. Vincent’s Hospitals, as well as Regional Vice President for Eastern Wisconsin with the Hospital Sisters Health System of Springfield, Illinois.

Above all, Jim and his beloved wife, Jane, cherished spending as much time as possible with their 5 children and 11 grandchildren. After retirement, they lived amidst family in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Green Bay, Wisconsin. Jim’s active lifestyle captured every moment and reflected his passions for kayaking, golfing, bicycling, and watercolor painting. He dedicated himself to service – entertaining at area nursing homes and senior centers playing his banjo and singing “old time” songs. Jim contributed to numerous leadership boards, community committees, and non-profit organization strategic consultation.

Jim is forever and very dearly missed by his family, his community, and his many colleagues.

He was preceded in death by his mother (Elinore Coller Flasch), father (Gordon Coller), step-father (Maurice Flasch), and dear grandson (Jameson Brumbaugh).

He is survived by his wife (Jane Coller); children, step-children and their spouses (Jennifer (Rich) Brumbaugh, Colleen (Greg) Horwitz, Julie (Brian) Zaruba, Ryan (Karen) Coller, and Patrick Blaney); and grandchildren (Jonah and Grace Brumbaugh; Greyson, Lyla and Reynold Horwitz; Ian, Audrey, and Aaron Zaruba; and Olivia and Penelope Coller); as well as his siblings (Jane Paulson, Patricia Coller, and Robert Coller).
