James Anthony Franklin

January 3, 1964 — January 31, 2016

James A. “Jim” Franklin, 52, De Pere, WI passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016. Jim was born in St. Louis, MO on January 3, 1964. He is a 1983 graduate of South County Technical High School, St. Louis. After high school Jim entered the United States Army. He made a career for himself serving his country from July 1983 and retiring as Sergeant in February 1995. During his career, he was stationed in Hawaii, Korea, New York and Germany. While stationed in New York he met the love of his life, Marie A. Schneider. They were married on August 26, 1989 in Watertown, NY and moved to the Green Bay area in 1992. He was a member of Chapter 3 of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), WIPVA and the American Legion. Survivors include his loving wife, Marie; brother, Carl (Kim) Johnson; Marie’s family, John (Eileen) Schneider, Ro Mulligan, Martin (Kay) Schneider, Mike (Deb) Schneider and their children and grandchildren; and his step mother, Sandy Orphan. He is preceded in death by his dad, Jim E. Franklin; step dad, Bill Casnar; his biological father, Jim Bell; cousin, David Latham; and Schatzie und Liebchen. Friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere on Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. A funeral service will be held at 4:00pm with Rev. Julie Wrubbel-Lange officiating. Full Military Honors to follow. Online condolences may be sent to www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the DAV Chapter 3 Transportation Fund, 1253 Scheuring Rd. # A, De Pere, WI 54115. Memorials can also made to The Myelin Project, P.O. Box 39, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272. Marie would like to give special thanks to Carl for always being there for Jim. And she also thanks Dr. Schmitz, Dr. DeGroot, Dr. Hintz, Pastor Christman and all the caring people who helped them and took such wonderful care of Jim during his courageous 25 year fight against MS.
