James A. Schleis

April 16, 1932 — September 30, 2013

James “Jim” Schleis, 81, Denmark, passed away Monday, September 30, 2013. He was born April 16, 1932 in Green Bay to the late Anton and Lena (Hengel) Schleis. He served his country in the United States Army and was a Korean War veteran. Jim married Patricia Jorgensen on June 12, 1953 in Denmark. He retired after 38 years as a truck driver and was a member of the Teamsters. He enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, golfing and traveling with Pat. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; children, Lori (Bradley Steen) Schleis, Lynn (Russell) Hermsen, Lance Schleis, Leslie (Scott) Gilbertson; nine grandchildren, Lucas, Zachary, Lucy, Alexander, Sam, Abby, Jason, Joshua, Nathan; nine great-grandchildren, Dominic, Reaunna, Gabby, Sophia, McKenna, Jayen, Orion, JJ, Angelina; sisters, Bonnie (Kenneth) Prybelski, Helen (Roger) Shavlik; sister-in-law, Mrs. Claude (Joan) Schleis; other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Claude Schleis. Family and friends may visit on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 435 Wisconsin Ave., Denmark from 9:00a.m. to 10:45a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00a.m. at the church with Rev. Andrew Zoerb officiating. Interment in West Danish Cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home Cremation Services, Denmark, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed to Jim’s family at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Jim's name. A special thank you to the nurses at Bellin Hospital and the Unity Team for the care and consideration given to Jim and his family at this difficult time.
