Jacalyn "Jaci" Arne

August 15, 1947 — April 27, 2019

On Saturday, April 27, 2019, Jacalyn “Jaci” Ann Arne unexpectedly passed on to unite with the Lord Jesus Christ and her spiritual family, including her daughter Roseanne, in heaven. She is survived by her husband, Darrell; two sons, Ryan and Steve; two daughters-in-law, Joung Ju and Kelly; and eight grandchildren, Melissa, Justin, Emily, Abigail, Liam, Aidan, Shawn and Lars.
Jaci was born on Friday, August 15, 1947 to Edward and Margaret Shervey in Chicago, IL. Growing up, Jaci excelled at water skiing and swimming as she spent many summers with her family and sister, Patty, at Long Lake in Wisconsin. In her early years, Jaci learned the value of strong family ties and the importance of maintaining them for a lifetime. These familial traits later helped her become a great wife, sister, mother and grandmother.
Jaci met her husband, Darrell in October 1965 on a blind date in college and their courtship continued until they were married soon after graduating from Southern Illinois University on April 4, 1970. Jaci graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design. Little did she know then that her degree would greatly assist in creating a wonderful home environment in Illinois and New Mexico for her extended family.
Jaci assumed motherly duties in 1971 and 1975 and she quickly became “The World’s Greatest Mother.” Always present with a warm heart and soft touch, Jaci never let her sons go without love. Her work included (but was hardly limited to), attending hundreds of swim meets and soccer games, caring for earaches, broken bones and appendicitis, delivering her sons’ paper route (many times ‘solo’) for over seven years and providing the much needed motherly touch when the three “boys” (yes that list includes her husband too!) got in arguments over a game of basketball. Jaci’s years of undying dedication and love resulted in Ryan and Steve graduating from West Point and starting families of their own.
At the same time Jaci was working as a full-time mom, she worked full time helping manage the affairs of Arne & Company by assuming all of the administrative, logistics and bookkeeping duties for Darrell. Jaci was the glue that held the family and business together for over 40 years.
Jaci greatly enjoyed her last years of life spending time with her grandchildren in Virginia and Hawaii and her extended family in Green Bay, WI. She was especially fond of watching her grandchildren grow up and compete in the same sports she also enjoyed as a child. The backyard pool she worked so hard to maintain provided an outlet for Jaci to shower love and attention on her grandchildren and create the memories her family will cherish forever.
