Iola M. (Gauthier) Lawrence

Iola Lawrence, age 92, of De Pere, passed away Wednesday evening, July 5, 2017. The daughter of the late Albert and Henrietta (Roder) Gauthier was born March 6, 1925. She married Kenneth Lawrence on July 31, 1948 in Maplewood, WI and he preceded her in death April 12, 1998. Iola worked at the Bay Ship Yard during WWII, the Prom Night Club in West De Pere, and she was also a crossing guard for the City of De Pere for 30 years, retiring at the age of 80. Iola was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in De Pere. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Kust, son, Gary (Theresa) Lawrence, daughter in law, Karen Lawrence and son in law, Glenn Verhagen. She is further survived by 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, brother in law, Chuck Lawrence and very special friend, Stanley Waslowski. Preceding Iola in death are her parents, husband Ken, son, Larry Lawrence, daughter, Mary Verhagen and Sandy’s significant other, Jim Waldo. Family and friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere on Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm. The funeral service will be held at 6:00pm with Pastoral Associate Robin Therese officiating.
