Howard H. Vissers, 89, De Pere, passed away October 17, 2011. Son of the late Martin and Nellie (Coenen) Vissers was born December 22, 1921 in De Pere. He served his country during WWII in the Marine Corps, Pacific Theater. Howard married Marilyn R. Vander Zanden on January 9, 1946 at St. Mary Catholic Church, De Pere. He worked for the Wisconsin Telephone Co. for 37 years retiring in 1984. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers, member and Past President of the De Pere Men’s Club, and was an active volunteer in the community for many years. Surviving are his wife, Marilyn; son, Gary (Janice) Vissers; granddaughter, Sarah (Steven) Fabry and their daughter, Sophia; grandson, Andrew Vissers; brother, Donald (Ann) Vissers; sister, Betty Clancy; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold and Ken (Ann) Vissers; sister, Dorothy (Hank) Gerke; and brother-in-law, Jim Clancy. Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 am, Thursday, Oct. 20th at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St., De Pere. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am on Thursday at the church with Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Entombment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
