Henry “Harry” Kreft, 92, of Denmark, WI, passed away on Veterans Day Tuesday, November 11, 2014, surrounded by his loving family and the caring staff at Angel‘s Touch Assisted Living Facility in De Pere, WI. He was born in Poniatowski, WI, September 30, 1922, to the late Allie and Helen (Witucki) Kreft. He was educated in the schools of Edgar, WI, and moved to Denmark to begin a career in publishing. He later moved to Eagle River, where he worked for J.A. Satran and Sons. He moved back to Denmark to work at Brown County Publishing for the rest of his career. It was there where he met his wife of 61 years, Carol. On May 30, 1953, he married Carol Ann Kafka at All Saints Catholic Church in Denmark, WI, and they spent 61 years together and raised seven children. Harry was a proud veteran of the United States Navy serving as a communications specialist during World War II aboard the USS Nevada. He continued his service to his country as a member of the American Legion Denmark Post 363 and participated in honoring fallen soldiers and veterans every Memorial Day. He was a dedicated employee of Brown County Publishing and served as President of the company the last 10 years of his career. He was honored with the Denmark Citizen of the Year Award. After retiring, he went on to live a happy and full life. He enjoyed participating in bowling, golf, and always loved a good card game, as well as his yearly retreats to Chambers Island. He treasured the time spent with his family at the many gatherings he and Carol hosted at their home in Denmark. Survivors include his seven children Debra (Mike) Menoni, David (Tawna) Kreft, Dale (Jody) Kreft, Denis (Michele) Kreft, Diane (Kevin) Roskom, Denise (Tom) Vogel and Dean (Mary) Kreft; 22 grandchildren, and special granddaughter, Sarah, who is waiting for grandpa in heaven. Harry is further survived by six siblings: Leona Towey, Dorothy Germinaro, Florence Koch, the late Florian, Mary Nowacki and Gladys Paul, as well as many other loving relatives and dear friends.
