Henry August Kindsgrab

October 27, 1934 — January 8, 2023

On Sunday, January 8, 2023, Henry (Hank) August Kindsgrab, age 88, went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Born in Orange, New Jersey on October 27, 1934, Hank was the youngest child of Henry and Emma (Grotz) Kindsgrab. He graduated from Livingston High School (NJ) in 1952. Hank enjoyed playing competitive tennis, handball, and swimming as an avid member of the Flanders Swim and Sport Club of Flanders, New Jersey. He studied chemistry at Rutgers University and later joined the US Army. After his service, he returned to school earning a master’s degree in Environmental Chemistry. While in graduate school he met Paula Voegtli, the love of his life. They married on September 2, 1967 and their union blessed them with two sons, Kurt and Hans.

In 1972, Hank and Paula relocated to Northeastern WI where he was a wastewater chemist in Seymour, Wisconsin for nearly 30 years before retiring. Hank enjoyed fishing with his wife Paula and the kids, however they wanted to go so often he often would just be the chauffeur on their countless fishing trips to Shawano Lake, many times he would just work on the car (even changing the oil) while everyone was out fishing. Hank also enjoyed walking and cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers, as well as helping in the family business Image Innovators (Ad Ideas of Wisconsin) in any way he could. He was an expert at making 2-piece pin style buttons and his wife Paula would funnel orders his way to keep him busy in his retirement. Hank was known for being easy-going and unselfishly supporting his family and friends whenever they needed a helping hand. He loved his daily routine which always started with fried eggs for breakfast and always ended each day with ice cream at 8:30 pm sharp. He was a man of few words, but he was always there when you needed him.

For nearly 10 years Hank and Paula enjoyed wintering in the Palm Beach, Florida area with family while enjoying walking the beach, collecting sea glass and seashells, playing dominos, and ocean fishing and entertaining friends and family.

He is survived by his sons Kurt (Fara) of Green Bay, WI, and Hans (Shannon) of Apex, NC and four grandchildren: Kaden, Kyla, Ryan, and Evan. He is also survived by sister, Gretchen (Kindsgrab) Braunschweiger of Morristown, NJ; niece, Gretchen Jr., and nephew, Carl. His Brother-in-Law Billy Voegtli (Easton, MD) and Brother-in-Law William Janssen (De Pere, WI) as well as many nieces and nephews from his wife’s side of the family.

Hank was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Paula; his parents; his parents-in-laws (John and Gladys Voegtli); brother-in-law Herbert Braunschweiger; nephew Richard Braunschweiger.

Friends and family may visit from 3:00 pm until the time of the celebration of life service at 5:00 on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, WI 54115 with Jim Motley officiating.
