Helen Van Dyke

Helen Van Dyke, age 90, of Wrightstown, passed away Wednesday, March 01, 2017 with her family at her side. The daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Ley) Bries was born September 3, 1926 in Wrightstown. She married Elmer Van Dyke on August 24, 1946 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay, and he preceded her in death on February 21, 1998. She retired from the Bursar’s Office at UW-GB, and in her spare time enjoyed sewing, knitting, and was a 4-H leader for many years. She was a long-time member of St. Clare Parish in Wrightstown, a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 436 and volunteered for St. Vincent Hospital knitting and crocheting hats and gowns for infants. Survivors include her children: Sue (Jerry) Gerend, Joe (Carol), Jack (Linda), Bill (Roxie), Bob (Lillie Wright), Steve (Diane Gilbertson) and Michele; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law: Rozita Spierings and Carol (Carl) Newhouse. In addition to her husband, Elmer, and parents, Helen was preceded in death by a granddaughter Kelly Ann Gerend and a great-grandson Derek John Biwer. Family and friends may visit at St. Clare Parish-St. Paul Site, Wrightstown, on Saturday, March 4, from 9:30am until 12:45pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00pm Saturday with Rev. Brian Wideman and Rev. Dave Pleier concelebrating. Burial in St. Paul Cemetery, Wrightstown. Cotter Funeral Home of Wrightstown is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for Cerebral Palsy in Green Bay. Our family would like to thank the caregivers at Autumn’s Promise Assisted Living and Heartland Hospice for the tremendous love and support shown to mom and our family.
