Helen Dorothy Martin, 97, De Pere, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014. She was born August 8, 1916 to the late John and Katherine (Wochos) Wavrunek in Pilsen. She was a first generation American as her mother immigrated from the old country. Helen enjoyed baking, gardening, and was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church, De Pere. Survivors include: a son, Melvin (Yolanda) Martin and their children, Kim Martin and Scott Martin; a daughter Kathie Rost (special friend David Altmann) and her children: Kristen (Chris) Kratcha, and Kyle Hansen; a daughter Kae (Rob) Reis and their children: Jessica (David) Denor, and Jacob (Kerry) Reis; a daughter-in-law, Jan Martin and her children: Cary Martin and Jay Martin; great grandchildren: Tyler (Sammy) Martin, Micheala Martin, Nicole Martin, Kara Martin, Patrick Martin-Smithwick, Rio Matzke, Thomas Kratcha, Kaitlin Kratcha, Derek Kratcha, Ryan Kratcha, Matthew Denor, Abbigail Denor, Joey Denor, Sam Denor, Max Reis, Ally Reis, Sydney Reis, and Will Reis. She is further survived by a brother, Eddy (Rosemary) Wavrunek and their family; a sister, Ann Wavrunek and a brother-in-law, Douglas Martin (special friend Alba); John and Dennis Hager; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin “Humma” Martin; a son, Allen Martin and several brothers and sisters. Family and friends may call at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Dr., Ledgeview, on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 9-10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Judah Pigon, MF officiating and Rev. John H. Harper as concelebrant and homilist. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family.
