Glenn ""Blackie"" Dahlke

January 20, 1950 — September 13, 2010

Glenn “Blackie” A. Dahlke, 60 years, of Denmark, passed away unexpectedly on the evening of September 13, 2010. He was born on January 20, 1950 to the late Eugene F. and Gertrude (Krueger) Dahlke. He was a native of Denmark and graduated from Denmark High. Glenn was a member of the U.S. Army and served two-tours in the Vietnam War. He was proud to be an active life member of the Denmark VFW Post 6705. Glenn served as QuarterMaster at Post 6705 for 8 years and was appointed All State Post QuarterMaster 4 times. He was employed at Fort Howard until his retirement. After retirement Glenn obtained his CDL and enjoyed driving truck; he looked forward to the spring and summer fertilizer season, as well as the fall harvest. Glenn also always looked forward to the deer hunting seasons and card games with friends. He enjoyed his early retirement to the fullest, always welcoming friends in to share a fun story or a good joke. On August 12, 1972, Glenn married Louise D. Lyon at Christ Lutheran Church in Denmark. He was a proud father of daughter, Annette (Shawn) Schladweiler, of Baldwin,WI, and Jonathon Dahlke, active member of US Army Unit Bravo 296, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, E4 Specialist stationed at Joint Army Base Fort Lewis-McCord in Washington state. He was an extremely proud Grandpa to Sage Joanetta, and was looking forward to his new grandchild. Glenn is further survived by his brother, Eugene (Linda) Dahlke; sisters, Janice, Shirley, and Marion Dahlke and Carol (Gerald) Petersen, all of Denmark; and numerous other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, James and Joanetta Lyon; great-nephew, Nathan Tilot; and nephew, US Army 82nd Airborne Sergeant First Class Scott Brown. Family and friends may call at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church, 503 Grand Ave., Denmark on Friday, September 17, 2010 from 9:00a.m. until 11:30a.m. with a VFW Service at 11:30. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday at the church at 11:45a.m, with Pastor Paul Schlies officiating. Entombment will be at Nicolet Memorial Gardens.
