George died on September 3, 2013 at Allouez Parkside Village Nursing Home. He was born on May 26, 1923 in Star Junction, PA, son of Paul Curtis and Mary Beck Kuhns. George was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara and his parents. He is survived by his four children: Debbie Petersen (Bill), Pat Hittle (Dave Niermann), Scot, and Marcy Walz (Rick); and two sisters; Fern Wood and Carol (Bob) Herrington. He will be missed by his 10 grandchildren: Kate Hittle, Lauren Kraemer (John), Christoffer Petersen (Kathryn), Alexandra Petersen, Kyle, Casey, and Mackenzie Walz, and Vanessa, Victoria, and Alex Kuhns; and 1 great granddaughter, Mallory Jean Kraemer. George was a veteran of WWII serving in the 594th Bomb Group as a bombardier while stationed in Venlo, Holland. He married the love of his life, “Bobbie”, on August 18, 1946, and celebrated almost 66 years with her. He graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Business. Afterward he sold tires for Kelly Springfield and managed different regions while living in Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Illinois. When they moved to Minnesota, he bought a car dealership in Farmington. Several years later, George started Valley Chrysler Plymouth in Apple Valley and ran that business for 8 years. In 1972, George and Barb bought Fairway Motors in Sauk Centre, MN and ran it for 17 years before retiring. In 1989, they moved to Green Bay where Dad continued to work for a phone company and then started his own business, GB Communications, selling repurposed phone systems. He continued to work until age 89. Dad and Mom were a great team who worked side by side their whole life. Dad was always concerned about making sure his family was well taken care of and worked hard to make sure we always had what we needed. He took pride in his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. As Dad loved to say, “Smile and Be Happy”. A celebration of his life will be held at Cotter Funeral Home in De Pere, WI on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11:00am with Rev. Randy Richter officiating. Friends who wish to pay their respects are welcome beginning at 10:00am. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. Family has requested no flowers; and any memorials should be directed to Unity Hospice. The family would like to thank all his caregivers from Allouez Parkside Village and Unity Hospice and especially those from Home Instead; Kathy, Nancy, Gail and Kelly.
