George E. Steeno

George E. Steeno, age 88, of De Pere, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013. The son of the late Earl P. and Emma (Netols) Steeno Sr. was born July 30, 1925 in Green Bay. George attended Green Bay West High School and married the former Jean M. Reynolds on August 16, 1947 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay. Jean preceded him in death on March 23, 2004. After serving his country for 2 years in the 124th infantry, 31st division of the U.S. Army, George worked for 44 years as a machinist for Chicago and Northwestern Railroad until his retirement. George also worked 30 years in the Auxiliary Police. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Community in De Pere, where he was past president of the Holy Name Society and the Usher’s Club, and was also active in Boy Scouting. Survivors include his two daughters and their families: Georgia (Ed) Duengel of Troy, MI, Diane (John) Van Veghel and their daughters Katie (Chris) and Abby (special friend Ryan); four sons and their families: Gary Steeno and his son Allan of Newark, OH, Patrick (Jackie) Steeno and their children Neil, Kyle and Claire of Thornton, CO, Charles (Shelia) Steeno and their children: Christopher (Stephanie), Gerald (Rebecca) and Elizabeth (Matt) of Tucson, AZ, and David (Susie) Steeno and their son Griffin of Barrington, IL. He is further survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Donna (Donald) Schink, Alan Reynolds, Vern (JoAnn) Reynolds, Paul (Jean) Reynolds and Peter (Janice) Reynolds, as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma and Earl Sr., brother, Earl Jr (Darlene), and other family members. Family and friends may visit at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Dr., Ledgeview, on Wednesday, October 2, from 9-10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Wednesday, with Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Entombment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family.
