Genevra “Gen” June (Rosenow) Holznecht, 91, passed away January 25 at her home in Germantown, WI. She was born in Green Bay, WI on November 25, 1927, the daughter of Ernest and Elsie (Lucht) Rosenow. Gen was a graduate of Green Bay East High School, Class of 1945. Genevra married Glen R. Holznecht in Green Bay on January 29, 1949 and he preceded her in death on April 25, 2001. She was a sustaining member of Green Bay Service League and a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Mobile, early board member of Green Bay Day Nursery (later Encompass) and a volunteer for school and church activities at St. Mary of the Angels and Resurrection Churches. Gen also was involved in providing meals for the homeless shelter in Green Bay with parishioners from Resurrection Catholic Church. She was an avid Packer fan and enjoyed knitting prayer shawls for Church, and blankets and afghans for her family and friends. Gen enjoyed playing Mahjong and bridge. She was a life member of Hadassah. Most importantly Gen loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Genevra is survived by her children Robin (Sara), Springboro, Ohio and Cynthia (Dr. Philip Konkel), Mequon, WI. Grandchildren, Jessica (John Berry), Jacob, Michael (Heather), MacKenzie, Lindsey (Dr.Scott Neabore) and Captain Robert Konkel along with 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Glen’s brothers and sisters, Lois, Charles, Richard, Jean and Joyce and many other family and friends.
Family and friends may gather at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, beginning at 10:00am, Thursday, February 7, 2019, the memorial mass will follow at 11:00am with Fr. Tim Shillcox, O.Praem officiating. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family. Online condolences may be offered at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Gables of Germantown and Seasons Hospice for providing care and comfort to Gen. A Memorial Fund has been established for tuition assistance for the school children of Resurrection Parish.
