Gene A. Dorau, 57, Green Bay, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011. Gene was born on July 8, 1953 in Rhinelander, the son of Goldie Edith (Radliff) Dorau and the late Frederick Dorau. He married Karen Holschbach on April 30, 1982 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville. Gene, as a skilled carpenter, created many beautiful fireplace mantels and cabinets throughout his career. Some of Gene’s many interests included going to art and renaissance faires, collecting pottery, antique hurricane lamps and record albums. Gene and his father won many trophies racing canoes when he was younger. He loved to travel, landscape garden and had a great love for cats. Gene is survived by his loving wife, Karen; his mother; Goldie (Roger) Cronce; his brother, Fred. Sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Kaye (Curt) Johnson, Leslie (Janet) Holschbach. Nephew; Aaron (Vickie) Johnson and their children, Aiden, Olivia, Logan, TyQuan, DaQuan. He is further survived by his Uncle Warren (Linnea) Dorau, Aunts Kay (Gene) Hull and Della (Charles) Gahler. His special cats: Harley, Lucky Man, Myth and Patches also survive Gene. He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick; father-in-law and mother-in-law; Reiny and Jeanette Holschbach and his grandmother, Kitty, who was very special to him and his Uncle Rueben. Friends and family may call Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, for a memorial visitation from 1p.m. to 5p.m. A short memorial service will be conducted at 3:30p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Warren Dorau officiating.
