With a bolt of lightning, a crack of thunder and some hail, Gary F. Pranke, age 63, of De Pere, entered into heaven at noon on Friday, April 13, 2018 at his home (Santa Maria Nursing Home). The son of William and Rosemary (Nienhaus) Pranke was born October 7, 1954 in Green Bay. He graduated from East De Pere High School in 1973 and during his time there proudly served as manager for the varsity wrestling team. Gary was a devoted laborer for Curative Connections for close to 30 years and although he has not invented anything noteworthy or made any headlines, his presence in the world touched many lives and the world was better for having him in it. He will be sadly missed by his mother, whom he lived with throughout his life. He was a devoted son, and his assistance and presence allowed his parents to stay in their home as long as they did.
In addition to his mother, Rosemary, he is survived by his sister, Sue Pranke of De Pere; a half-brother Roger (Karen) Nienhaus of De Pere; half-sister Barb Jans of Oakdale, MN; aunt Joan Steckart of De Pere and uncle Ralph (Ione) Nienhaus of Crivitz; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, William.
Family and friends may visit at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St, De Pere, on Tuesday, April 17, from 9:30am until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am with the Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.
Our family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at Ledgeview Nursing Center and Santa Maria Nursing Home, of whom there are too many names too mention, for their care and compassion over the last 7 years.
