Francis Michael Plaza

Francis Michael Plaza, 69, of Allouez, Wisconsin, passed away on February 2, 2017 after a 7 year battle with cancer. Francis loved golfing, charter fishing, boating and above all, spending time with his family and friends. He was a kind, generous and loving man. He will be missed by all that know and love him. Francis served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 – 1970 as a communications specialist. He married the love of his life and soul mate, Candice Jo Plaza (Kent), on September 26, 1970. They were blessed with three children, Amanda (Joel) Johnson, Seth (Erica) Plaza and Benjamin (Justine) Plaza, all of De Pere, Wisconsin. Francis loved his grandchildren, Adalynn, Alaina and Sophia Johnson, and Finlay and Brenna Plaza. They loved playing with “Papa”, and being with them brought him such happiness. He is survived by all. Francis is also survived by his sister, Ruthie Lietz, Mosinee, WI, brother, Phillip Plaza, Rhinelander, WI, brothers-in-law, Jonathon (Kay) Kent, DePere, Wi, Christopher (Stacey) Kent, Shawano, WI, and Skip (Marca) Kent, Jasper, IN, sisters-in-law, Joyce Plaza, Mosinee, WI, and Kathleen (Jeff) Kent-Stanke, Virginia Beach, VA and many nieces and nephews. Francis is preceded in death by his father, Frank Plaza, his mother, Regina Plaza and his brother, Norman Plaza. Visitation will be at Resurrection Catholic Parish, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, WI from 9am until 10:45am on Tuesday, February 7. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.
