Frances H. Verbeten, 81, Wrightstown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 26, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 22, 1929 in Town of Lawrence, daughter of the late Peter and Rosa (Bries) VandeHey. She graduated from Wrightstown High School, and married Mark Verbeten in 1949 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Wrightstown. She enjoyed painting, sewing, arts and crafts, wintering in Lake Havasu, Arizona, and was an avid golfer. Fran was a lifetime member of St. Paul Catholic Church and its Ladies Society, American Legion Post 436, and the Ladies Golf League at Mid Vallee Golf Course. She was dedicated to her children and grandchildren, and loved spending time with them. She created special memories at the holidays for her family which will always be fondly remembered. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 61 years, Mark; six children: Christine Taylor, Appleton, and her children, Nicholas (Theresa), Elliott, and Claire; Paul (Peggy) Verbeten, Neenah, and their children, Anne and Abby; Dave (Becky) Verbeten, Libertyville, IL, and their two sons, Justin and Patrick; Dan (Chris) Verbeten, Wrightstown, and their children, Corey (fiancé-Tara), Michael, and Lindsey; Kay (Robert) Root, Shakopee, MN, and their children, Amie, Mark, and Sam; Lea (Bruce) VandeHey, Wrightstown, and their sons, Aaron, Zachary, and Parker; one sister, Dorothy Planner, Appleton; sisters-in-law, Gertrude VandeHey,Wrightstown, Lee VandeHey, Green Bay, Dorothy Zelzer, Kimberly, Germaine Smith, Wrightstown, Marie Thiel, Appleton, Gen Ambrosius, Brillion; brother-in-law, Luke Verbeten, Wrightstown; and numerous nieces and nephews. Fran was preceded in death by her parents; sisters and brothers-in-law: Margaret (Marty) Engelhart, Mabel (Julius) Weisgerber, Clara (Ken) Wallace, Florence (Lester) Mitchell, Gladys (Larry) Verhagen; brothers: Ervin, Walter, Elzear, Elard, and Edward VandeHey ; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arnold and Mary Verbeten; brothers-in-law: Tom Planner, Douglas Smith, Earl Thiel, and Robert Ambrosius; and sister-in-law, Eunice Verbeten. Friends may call Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Clare Parish-St. Paul site, Wrightstown, where there will be a Parish Prayer Service at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday at church, with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken, Msgr John Schuh, and Fr. Carl Meulemans concelebrating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home, Wrightstown, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established and will support Alzheimer’s research. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers from HomeInstead, especially Cathy, the nurses from Heartland Hospice, especially Tracy, and the staff and caregivers at Ennis House.
