Frances Mary Fenske (Francesca Michor) was born in the small poor village of Koestendorf in Austria March 9, 1928. When she was 1, her parents (Max and Elizabeth) immigrated to America in search of a better life. She was ill, however and not allowed on the ship. She stayed behind with her aunt, uncle & cousins for the next 8 years while her parents saved enough money to send for her. She left the peaceful mountain village for the noisy city of Milwaukee. These events and others to follow, along with her strong Catholic faith, shaped the person she became.
She married the love of her life, Dick Fenske, on June 9, 1951. Although it seemed that children would not be a possibility for them, God blessed them with 4 children (Marybeth, Joe, John and Rick), 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He passed away in 2011 and she has looked forward to being reunited with him in heaven.
Fran was always focused on helping the poor, the lonely and the suffering. She took people in need of support and care into her home. If you were sick, she would be happy to bring you some of her homemade chicken soup. Fran acted as a social worker wherever she went, trying to improve the lives of others. She served as president of the Wisconsin Alliance for the Mentally Ill. She generously gave what she could and beyond to over one hundred charitable organizations and individuals in need.
A woman of deep faith, Fran strived to serve God and those around her. She anticipated with joy joining Dick, Joe and all her loved ones in heaven.
