Florence C. Wierschke, 106, Greenleaf, WI, entered her eternal rest on August 17, 2012, at Rennes Nursing Home, De Pere, WI. Florence was born on December 28, 1905, in Wrightstown, WI, to the late Charles (Herman) and Pauline Kussow (Erdman). Florence was baptized and confirmed at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Wrightstown. She married Elmer C. Wierschke, Greenleaf, WI, on November 5, 1927, and had three children. She was an active, life-long member of St. John where she played organ, sang in the church choir and served with the Ladies Aid Society. Playing piano was her special talent, having begun when she was about ten years old. Before marriage, she held several jobs in the village of Wrightstown. She worked at the Fox River Dairy Cheese Factory and at a grocery store. She even commuted by trolley car to work at a grocery store in Kaukauna. After marrying and moving the Wierschke family dairy farm, just east of Wrightstown, it was not unusual for her to be in the field shocking grain bundles or milking cows in the barn. All this was in addition to baking and other homemaker duties. Although her passing leaves relatives and acquaintances with earthly sorrow, we now rejoice with her that she has at last attained the full measure of her greatest desire—to see her Lord and Savior face to face in her eternal home. She leaves behind two sons: Kenneth, Greenleaf; and Dale, Bellevue; one brother, Vernon E. Kussow; six grandchildren: Stephen (Janet), Wrightstown, Michael, Green Bay; Kristin (Jeff) Demmin, Algoma; Pastor David (Lisa), Caledonia, WI; Jonathan (Sharon), Mill Creek, WA; and Elizabeth (Pastor Nathan) Strutz, Verona, WI; twelve great-grandchildren: Alicia (Eric) Ulm, Milwaukee; Jolene Wierschke, Madison, WI; Aaron Wierschke, Greenleaf, WI; Taylor and Jordan Demmin, Algoma; Elinor, Meghan and Claire Wierschke, Caledonia, WI; Leah and Lauren Wierschke, Mill Creek, WA; and Caleb and Elijah Strutz, Verona, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Alfred W.H. Kussow; one daughter, Dawn Wierschke; and two daughters-in-law, Marilyn (Kenneth) Wierschke and Evelyn (Dale) Wierschke. Florence’s victory celebration and Christian funeral will be held at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Wrightstown, WI on Monday, August 20, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The service will be conducted by Pastor Matthew Vik and Pastor David Wierschke, preaching. Pastor Nathan Strutz will officiate the interment at St. John Cemetery in Wrightstown, following the service. Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. The family thanks the entire staff at Rennes Nursing Home, De Pere, where Florence was a resident for four years. We have been amazed and overwhelmed by the affection and consideration given to both Florence and family members and visitors by all who cared for her needs during her residency there. Thanks also to Dr. Timothy Fagre, Aurora Health Center, for his compassionate care during her final years. Special thanks also to Dr. Roderick L. Meves, Bellin Health Family Medical Center, De Pere East, for his compassion, counsel and advice in serving Florence in her later years prior to her residency at Rennes.
