Florence Teresa Reedy, longtime Maribel resident, passed away October 20, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, just in time to celebrate her 90th birthday in heaven. Florence was born October 22nd, 1928 near Rosecrans in the town of Cooperstown., daughter of Frank W. and Mary L. (Cavanaugh) Wanish. She grew up on the family farm and attended Rosecrans Grade School. She graduated from Denmark High School in 1946. She then worked at Mirro Aluminum for several years.
On May 2, 1953, Florence married Thomas W. Reedy at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville. They farmed just outside of Maribel for many years. She then worked part-time at Cedar Ridge Restaurant.
Florence enjoyed living in the country her entire life. She often had a large garden in her younger years, once described as the “loveliest garden on Pleasant Road.” Florence had a great appreciation for music that she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She was a lifetime member of the Denmark VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown.
