Florence N. (Garsow) Hoes

Florence N. (Garsow) Hoes, 86, De Pere, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2010. The daughter of Felix and Nettie (Ebben) Garsow was born November 11, 1923 in De Pere. On April 23, 1945 Florence married Norbert Hoes at St. Joseph Catholic Church, De Pere. Norb and Florence lived in De Pere for many years, and then moved to Arcadia, Florida before moving back to De Pere in 2001. Florence was always a hard worker and met many people while selling Avon and working at The Elks Club, Nicolet Dairy Bar and owning the Midway Bar with Norb in De Pere for 6 years. Florence loved music, dancing, playing cards and board games, bowling, and was very good at shooting pool. She was known for her acts of kindness and always thinking of others. Her quick wit and sense of humor were trademarks of hers. Florence will always be remembered for her loving, care giving of those in need, always putting others first. She was fiercely passionate about her children, grandchildren, family and friends, cherishing any time spent with them. Survivors include her 4 children: Nancy (Lee) VanRoy, De Pere; Diane (Gayle) Robinson, Scottsdale, Arizona; Michael (Tammy) Hoes, McDonough, GA; and Tony (Genny) Hoes, De Pere; 6 grandchildren: Robert (Shirley) Sinclair, Sheboygan; Ronald (Joan) Sinclair, Green Bay; Richard Sinclair, New Franken; Linda (Joe) Meissner, Appleton; Adam Hoes (De Pere); and Sarah Hoes (De Pere); 6 great-grandchildren: Andraya, Alex, Austin, and Dominic Sinclair, Arin, Trevor, and Mara Meissner; 2 step-great-grandchildren, Teren and Branden Mueller; sister, Bernadine Moureau; brother, Donald Garsow; sisters-in-law: Eunice Garsow, Marie Hoes, Betty Hoes, Geneva Choate; and numerous nieces and nephews. Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert on August 21, 2005; her parents; son-in-law, Roger Sinclair; sisters and brother: Gen (Lawrence) Nelson, Rosella (Joe) Bunker, Orbie Garsow, and Marie “Mickey” (John) Glowacki; brothers-in-law, George Moureau, Andrew, Wilbert, Elmer, Roger, and Albin (Catherine) Hoes; and sisters-in-law, Nancy Garsow and Leona (Wally) Lasecki, Dorothy (Peter) Kriescher, other relatives and friends. Family and friends may call on Monday, October 18, 2010 from 9:00a.m. until 10:45a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, 1305 Lourdes Ave., De Pere. A memorial service will be celebrated at 11:00a.m. on Monday at church, with Deacon Mike Vander Bloomen officiating. Entombment will be at Fort Howard Memorial Park. Florence’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at St. Vincent Hospital, Unity Hospice and the De Pere Rescue Squad for their compassion. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Meridith for her prompt response and caring attention at Mom’s time of need. In addition we wish to thank the unknown gentleman who first assisted Mom.
