Florence Ellen (Hoffman) Russell

Florence (Ellen Hoffman) Russell, 77, passed away Monday, May 31, 2010. She was born March 15, 1933 in Phillipsburg, NJ, daughter to the late Lillian (Ackroyd) and Howard Hoffman. Florence married John Gordon Russell on May 15, 1954 in St. Louis, MO, and shared 56 fantastic years together. She enjoyed traveling and went on many wonderful trips and cruises around the country and elsewhere with her husband. She was an active volunteer in the community and hospitals in Toledo, OH and, Waupaca, WI. Florence enjoyed golfing for over 40 years, and was a phenomenal dessert maker—lady finger dessert, cheesecakes, and fruit bars were her specialty. She could fix anything, and was a sharp as a tack, conquering every crossword puzzle and seemed to win every game. Florence was also fabulous with her hands; she enjoyed cross stitch, needlepoint, and knitting. Florence was always tapping her toes, and was an avid dancer and choreographer. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and many friends throughout the country. Florence loved, enjoyed and was the backbone of her family. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband, John Gordon Russell; daughters: Judith Russell (Howard Bornstein), Laurie Russell, Donna Russell (James Zazueta); grandchildren: Amanda (Nate Brown), Cameron, Lindsay (Joe Horak), Larry, Rusty, Nicolas, Emma and Lena; great-grandchildren: Brianna, Taylor, Joshua Gordon, and baby to be. A Celebration of Florence’s Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, WI, with the Rev. Dr. Ted L. Tromble officiating.
