Evelyn L. (Huempfner) Roffers

Evelyn L. Roffers, 93, De Pere, was called home to God, Monday, December 19, 2011, at Rennes Health Care Center. She was born August 7, 1918 in Marinette, daughter to the late Leonard and Ivy (Williams) Huempfner. Evelyn married Randall Roffers on October 14, 1939 at St. Mary Catholic Church in De Pere. Randall preceded her in death on July 10, 1996. Her vocation in life was being “Mom.” She was a proud homemaker raising her eight children. Evelyn enjoyed bingo, gambling, and playing cards --- especially cribbage! She will be deeply missed by her children: Gary (Nancy) Roffers, Riverside, CA; Larry Roffers, De Pere; Lee (Alice) Roffers, De Pere; Gloria (Jerry) Coenen, Houston, TX; Sherry (Rory) Towne, De Pere; Mark (Wendy) Roffers, Abrams, WI; and Don (Suzanne) Roffers, De Pere; son-in-law, Harold “Bud” Mayville, Green Bay; fifteen grandchildren: Gary Jr., Christine; Larry Jr., Ron; Kevin, Jerry, Tammy; Matt, Jerry; Joel, Chris; Bobbi; Jason, Jeremy; and Molly; and several great and great- great grandchildren. Evelyn is also survived by half sisters and brothers, and step sisters and brothers: Jackie, Michael “Dicky”, Betty Ann, and Tina; and sister-in-law, Marilyn. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Randall; daughter, Lynn; daughter-in-law, Darlene; grandson, Joey; brothers, Gordon and Donnie; sister, Joyce; half sisters and brothers and step sisters and brothers: June, Patricia “Cookie,” Bob, Rosie, and Benny; and several close aunts and uncles. Evelyn’s family would like to say a special thank you to her close friends: Nancy Mitchell, Joan Mathes, Lois and Jack Fox. Family and friends may call Wednesday, December 21, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Dr., Ledgeview. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at church, with Fr. Richard Getchel and son-in-law, Deacon Jerry Coenen concelebrating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere. Cotter Funeral Home Cremation Services, De Pere, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
