Eugene "Geno" Honzik

January 10, 1929 — December 16, 2015

Eugene B. “Geno” Honzik, age 86, of De Pere, quietly passed into the loving hands of the Lord on Thursday, December 17, 2015. The son of the late Wenzel and Anna (Stangel) Honzik was born January 10, 1929 in Tisch Mills and grew up on the family farm. He married Lucille Larson in Two Rivers on May 2, 1954, and she preceded him in death February 2, 2010. Eugene served his country in the U.S. Army after the Korean Conflict. He worked at Austin Straubel International Airport as a station agent for 36 years. Geno enjoyed his time with family and friends, fishing and hunting on the family farm, dancing, picnics, polka music and especially loved his Bohemian bakery. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching the Packers and Brewers. Survivors include his children: Mark (Jean) Honzik, Deb (Jim) Ertel, Karen (Tom) Bierke, Paul (Abbie) Honzik, Eugene (Karen) Honzik and Michelle Honzik; grandchildren: Ashley and Joshua Honzik, Jessina Hollaway, Alana and Nicole Reese, Christopher Rosenbaum and Andrew Rosenbaum, Kaylon and Sheldon Bierke, Paul Jr., and Stephen Honzik, Jordan Honzik and Natalya (Brandon) Baeten, Brittany and Brandon Honzik; great-grandchildren: Annikah, Dominic, Kevin and Hunter; a sister: Lorraine Mueller; sister-in-law Betty Honzik; Lucille’s sister and brother: Ramona Boutwell and Samuel Larson; nieces, nephews, other family and friends. In addition to his wife, Lucille and parents, he was preceded in death by his two infant children: Joseph and David; brother: Harvey Honzik and his sister: Adeline (Joe) Tolksdorf; sister-in-law Joann Carle and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Albertine and Paul Larson. Family and friends may visit at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St, De Pere on Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 8:00am until 9:45am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am with Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Full military honors will follow. A reception will follow the honors at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.
