Eugene Casanova

July 26, 1924 — March 28, 2014

Eugene Casanova, 89, Green Bay, passed away the morning of March 28, 2014. He was born on July 26, 1924 in Norway, MI, to the late Charles and Anna (Marchetti) Casanova. Eugene served his country in the Armed Forces from 1943 to 1945. He was a P.O.W in WWII during the Battle of the Bulge. On December 23, 1950, Eugene married the love of his life, Joyce (Lied) in Gladstone, MI. Eugene worked for many years at Rothe Foundry and later became the owner and president of De Pere Foundry. Eugene helped organize Little League baseball at Webster Park in Allouez. He was an avid Cub fan. On a warm summer day you could find him sitting on his deck listening to the Cubs on the radio and enjoying an Old Style. Eugene will be missed by his wife, Joyce Casanova; four children: Paul (Sue) Casanova, Green Bay, Geno Casanova, Albuquerque, NM, Don (Gina) Casanova, Green Bay, WI, and Linda (Mark) Pearson, Green Bay. He is further survived by eight grandchildren: Tom (Jennifer), Mike (Jessica), Tony (Kristen) Calan, Brittany, Alexis, Logan and Cassidy; five great-grandchildren: Anisten, Allie, Abigall, Katelyn and Serena; and his sister, Lorraine Decker. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his brother, Arthur (Tudo) Casanova; and his sister, Eloise Ross. Family and friends may call Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, with the Rev. Lori Swenson officiating. Full military honors will follow the service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers a gift in memory of Eugene may be made to Hospice Advantage, 916 Willard Drive #140, Green Bay. A special thanks to the staffs of Hospice Advantage, Bishop’s Court and Age Well for the care and kindness they showed Eugene.
