Ervin Zittlow, 101 years old, Wrightstown’s oldest resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 23, 2021. He was the third and youngest son of Albert and Bertha Zittlow, born on September 6, 1920. Born on the family farm along what is today I-41, formerly State Road 14. Ervin graduated eighth grade in 1934 from the Apple Creek one-room school. He farmed on the family dairy farm until 1968. After farming he went on to enjoy work at the Ariens Company for 14 years, finally retiring at the age of 63 in November 1983.
For 81 years he owned a cabin in Forest County where he enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and deer hunting until he was 90 years old. At the age of 97, he had to give up his drivers license. Throughout his life he enjoyed raising Springer Spaniels, where you could always find a couple at his side. The lifelong bachelor led a good and faithful life, as a member of St John Ev. Lutheran Church in Wrightstown. His life has been marked by hard work, first as a farmer, and then an employee of the Ariens Company.
Ervin is survived by his nieces; nephews; relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Harvey and Melvin; and sister-in-law, Inez.
