Emerald N. Ossmann, 90, passed away peacefully at his home on December 14, 2012 with family at his side. He was born to Ernest and Alma (Loewenhagen) Ossmann on December 1, 1922 in Appleton, WI. He lived in numerous places and attended many schools in his younger life. He worked on farms starting as early as age 14. Emerald married Luella Zeamer at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shirley on June 20, 1946. They shared 66 years of marriage and together they built their farm, Emerald Acres. It was here that they raised a daughter and three sons. Emerald’s passion was farming. For many years he was a seed dealer. He was proud of his family. It was very satisfying to him that his three sons continued his legacy by forming a partnership in 1988. Emerald was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served on various committees. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to him. Emerald is survived by his loving wife, Luella; four children: Ida (Tom) Robinson of Menasha, Don (Joyce), Ted (Lana), Paul (Deb) Ossmann all of Shirley; Grandchildren: Lance (Mari), Chad (Tara), Brent (Stephanie), Ryan (Mary) Robinson; Shannon (Cindy), Scott (Heather), Jason (Julie) Ossmann; Nathan (Fiancé Julie Bamman) Ossmann, Rachel Ossmann; Sarah (Darrel) Cappelle, Becky (Scot) Hammann; 24 Great-granchildren; Brothers, Sisters and In-Laws: Lydia (Larry) Tews, LaVerne Zeamer, Elaine Court, Robert (Arlene) Ossmann, Ione Kuehne, Vernon (Janet) Ossmann, Sally Ossmann, Doris Zeamer and Lorraine Zeamer; nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws Otto and Clara (Brandenburg) Zeamer; brothers: Emerson, Amos, Marvin, Ernest Jr.; Sisters-in law: Gertrude and Esther Ossmann, Lois and Irene Zeamer; Brothers-in-law: Arthur, Elmer, Alvin and Roland Zeamer, Archie Court and Richard Kuehne. Friends may call at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shirley beginning at 10:30 AM, Monday, December 17, 2012 until the time of the service at 1:00 PM with Rev. J.C. Eggert officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. Thank you to Heartland Hospice Care, especially Barb and Shannon, for the kindness and concern shown to Emerald, Luella and their family.
