Ellen L. Zettel

Ellen L. Zettel, 54, of Green Bay, died Friday, March 4, 2011, of complications resulting from her long-time challenges with lupus. A Green Bay native, Ellen was born to Louella and Sylvester Zettel on August 4, 1956. She is a graduate of Saint Joseph Academy in Green Bay and Saint Norbert College in De Pere. With a career start as a newspaper reporter, Ellen transitioned to public relations in the mid-1980s and corporate communications in the 1990s. Over a 20-year period, Ellen held senior positions at several Fortune 500 companies. Most recently, she oversaw internal communications at ThedaCare in Appleton. Ellen also counseled major companies through her own business, Excellyn Strategic Communications LLC; and wrote for area business publications. Ellen is survived by her sister, Lori Zettel, of De Pere; her brother and sister-in-law, David and Debbie Zettel; and nephews: Brandon and Austin Zettel, all of Green Bay; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louella and Sylvester Zettel. Friends may call Tuesday, March 8, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, 1307 Lourdes Ave., De Pere. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at church. Entombment will be in Allouez Catholic Mausoleum. Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere is assisting the family.
