Elizabeth "Betty Jane" Malewiski

October 12, 1925 — May 23, 2017

Betty Jane Malewiski, age 91, of Denmark, died May 23, 2017 at Scandinavian Court in Denmark. The daughter of John and Clara (Watzka) Bielinski was born October 12, 1925. On June 9, 1945, she married Leo G. Malewiski, and he preceded her in death on July 29, 1990. Prior to her marriage, she worked for the Denmark Phone Company, then she and Leo farmed in the Town of Glenmore starting in June of 1945. She also worked for Brown County Publishing for nearly 40 years. Betty was a member of the WFLA Lodge 108 and Pine Grove Church, was president of the Ladies Altar Society, member of VFW Auxiliary Post 6705 and American Legion Post 363 (both of which she served as chaplain), member of the Denmark Danish Villa Advisory Board and was a volunteer for the Parkview Nursing Home. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing sheepshead and Bingo, as well as spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her children: Alan (Nancy) of Denmark, Gerald “Chip” (Diane) of Luxemburg, John (Lynn) of Pulaski and Julie Lane (Mark) of Denmark; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; godchildren: Lori Fruzen, LeeAnn Akers, Lisa Malewiski and Jim Jensen; siblings: Robert Bielinski, Delores Daros, Willard (Josephine) Bielinski, Lonnie (Marketta) and a sister-in-law Norma Malewiski. In addition to her husband, Leo, and parents, John and Clara, Betty was preceded in death by a grandson Jim Malewiski, son-in-law: Jim Lane, and a sister-in-law Viola Bielinski. Family and friends may visit at All Saints Catholic Church, Denmark, on Friday, May 26, from 9:00am until 11:15am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30am with Rev. Kevin Ori and Rev. Tom Farrell concelebrating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd. Cotter Funeral Home of Denmark is assisting the family.
