Eileen M. Kidder, 88, Green Bay, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012. Born January 1, 1924, she was born a minute after midnight making her the first baby born during the New Year in the Twin Cities. Eileen was the daughter of L.T. and Hazel (Fabian) Norman. Eileen attended St. Paul Central High School and then the University of Minnesota. In her youth she was an accomplished ice skater becoming a performer in the Shipstad and Johnson Ice Follies. During the early years of WWII Eileen worked for the Minnesota Adjutant General at the Minnesota State Capitol. In 1943, she was thrilled to be accepted as a stewardess for a new airline in the early days of commercial air travel. She had many “hair-raising” experiences, including flying through a tornado, but loved her flying time. She married O. Perry Kidder on June 6, 1947 and he preceded her in death in July of 2001. Eileen and Perry relocated numerous times to several states before finally settling in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Eileen was always very active in the various churches they belonged to. She enjoyed playing cards, tennis and golf, and was a long time active member of Elmcrest Country Club in Cedar Rapids where she won numerous golf tournaments. In 2006 Eileen moved to De Pere to be closer to her family. She cherished her friends at Nicolet Highlands where she loved playing shuffleboard and bridge. Survivors include two sons: R. Perry (Donna) Kidder, Sherwood, WI, and Scott Kidder, Marshalltown, IA; two grandchildren: Callie (Geoffrey) Lacy, Green Bay, and Lindsay (Ryan) McGuan, Green Bay; four great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Shannon, Regan and Molly Jo; brother Tom (Collette) Norman, St. Paul, MN; Dan (Marylee) Norman, St. Paul; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Eileen was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce. Family and friends may call Wednesday, November 14, 2012, from 5:00 – 7:30 pm for a memorial visitation at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, with a 7:30 pm prayer service to follow. There will be a visitation at St. Matthew Parish, 130 St. Matthew St., Allouez, on Thursday, November 15, from 10:00 – 11:00 am with a Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00 am, with Fr. Philip Dinh-Van-Thiep officiating. A commitment burial service will follow at Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Eileen’s name to St Matthew School, 2575 South Webster Ave, Green Bay, WI 54301. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Dan Lemkuil and the staff at Bellin, the staff at Nicolet Highlands, the staff at Home Instead, especially Lindsey, as well as Allouez Parkside Village.
