July 18, 1918 — March 7, 2010

Edward V. “Scotty” Rosek, 91, Denmark, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, March 7, 2010. His long term disability ended with his loving family around him. He was born in Denmark on July 18, 1918 to Andrew and Frances (Shiva) Rosek. Ed came from a large family of ten children. Those who have died include: Antone “Doc” (Evelyn), Frances (Stanley ) Niespodzany, John Vaessen, George Rosek, Mary (Alphonse) Polasik, Frank Rosek, and Joe (Alvina) Rosek. On June 21, 1947, Edward married Dorothy Nickiel at Ss. Edward and Isadore Parish in Flintville. They lived at the same home in Denmark for over 50 years. Ed worked for Schuster Construction Company as a foreman for many years, and was known as “Scotty”. As a hard worker he provided well for his family. At home he was known for his creativity and fixing things. He loved growing African Violets, and at one time had at least a hundred growing in his basement. He was an avid Packer fan, and dressed in the green and gold nearly every day. Scotty enjoyed fishing with family and friends, and in his younger years liked playing baseball—especially third base. Ed will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy; three children and spouses, Donna Kapinos, Bob and Mary Rosek, and Betty and Ron Fiori; 11 grandchildren: Jennifer Thompson, Tammy Carley, Becky Collar, Jeffrey and Tim Kapinos, Maggie and Mike Rosek, Eric, Mark, Nick(who shared the same birthday as Scotty) and Mike Fiori; 7 great-grandchildren: Alaina, Derek, and Jack Thompson; Jay and Ryan Collar; Molly and Maggie Carley; step great-granddaugher, Kayla; sisters, Sophie Vaessen, and Martha (Marvin) VandenLangenBerg; brother, Andrew Rosek; sisters-in-law, Ceil Rosek and Alvina Rosek; Dorothy’s relatives: Marie Nickiel and James and Rose Nickiel; and numerous nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Erin Rosek (who shares the same death date); son-in-law, Don Kapinos; Dorothy’s family: David Nickiel, Lucille and Bernard Bukouricz.
