Edward P. Barr

August 31, 1965 — January 28, 2019

On January 28th, 2019, at the age of 53, Edward Barr unexpectedly started on his next adventure. Born in 1965 to Bernard and Joan Barr, he grew up in Roselle, IL and attended grade school at St. Walters and High School at Driscoll Catholic – graduating in 1983. He went to college at the University of Arizona – Tucson, and finished his BS in Engineering Physics at the University of IL, Champaign / Urbana. Edward married Juanita in 1999, and after their daughter Nora was born in 2004, they moved to Green Bay, WI, where he lived for the remainder of his life.

Ed’s talents were many. He started working as a carpenter – refinishing antiques. His love of math led him to options trading which he loved and continued to do on a part time basis until his passing. When Nora was born, he committed to being the best stay-at-home parent ever. Of all of these, his passion for fatherhood was his greatest joy. From plumbing to parenting, there was nothing he could not learn, and the more complex the challenge, the harder he worked.

The best word to describe Ed was “friend”. He was always willing to lend a hand to help others in need – whether babysitting for his favorite baby – Ayden, mowing grass, shoveling, working on the cottage or fixing sinks, he was always there to help out. He had a peaceful presence and loved to be with people. He adored all of his nieces and nephews, and spoke about them often. Throughout his life, he cherished the little things such as saving “pennies from heaven” for his mom, Joan; hanging in the basement with his dad, Bernie; helping Nora with homework, listening to her play flute, and watching her ride horses; taking long walks and playing Yatzee with Juanita after dinner; playing frisbee with Penny; “fishing” with John P and John H; hiking with Joe and Pete; talking with his friend Bob; canning beets with Jeff; and spending time with Dennis and Wendy – he loved it all.

Ed had a very mischievous sense of humor - always making funny faces, doing impressions, or playing with his sound making machines – anything to get his family to laugh. His favorite impression was imitating his sister Karen, who he adored. He had passion for preserving the environment, was very active in martial arts, and was a fantastic cook – always conjuring up new ways for Nora to eat beans. Whether hiking, biking, tubing or waterskiing, he enjoyed anything that involved being in nature. His second family, the Fuchsen’s, taught him that anything was possible in water - provided the life jacket fit well! He enjoyed trips to Chicago to see friends and family, and enjoyed time spent with his sister Karen and her family.

Ed is preceded in death by cousins Joseph Barr and David Audo, brother-in-law Steven Hartung, and father-in-law Cecil Hartung. He leaves behind his parents, Joan and Bernard Barr; mother in law – Delores Hartung, wife Juanita, beloved daughter Nora, sister Karen and Henry Hernandez, sister-in-laws Ramona and Christopher Speier, Maria Hartung, and Rebecca and Nelson Chiu; treasured nieces and nephews Jennifer, Andrew, Sara, Gabriel, Kevin, Alexander, Lucas, Liam, and great nephew Ayden. His passing leaves a great hole - he will be missed by all.
