Edward "Ed" C. Phillips

Edward Christian Phillips, 81, of De Pere, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

Ed was born on December 8, 1941, son of the late Norbert Phillips and Alice (Vanden Plas) Phillips. He graduated from De Pere High School. Ed was later united in marriage to Cheryl (nee Luebke) Matzke on March 16, 1990. He spent his time farming, building and managing the Corner Cafe, and owning and operating Total Auto Sales. Ed also drove semi for many years.

“Fast Eddie” also enjoyed drag racing, building cars, and tractor pulling. Ed was a people person who loved being around people and was always ready to make a new friend.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Cheryl; 6 daughters of a blended family: Patty (Dave) Jakubovsky, Paula Malone (Dio Delgado), Polly (Mike) Mason, Dawn (Jeff) Brumm, Tami Ohuafi (Jim Lenz), and Beth (Ken) Devroy; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is further survived by former spouse Mary Jane (Phillips) Stodola. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by an infant brother, Joseph C. Phillips.

Family and friends may gather on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Dr., Ledgeview, from 9:00 am until 10:45 am. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with Rev. Michael Ingold officiating.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Marilynn Quirk and Unity Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care of Ed.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask that you go out and talk to a stranger and make a new friend.
