Edith Ann Welch

Edith (Edie) Welch, 71, De Pere, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019 after an illness of cancer. The daughter of Gertrude (Raether) Backhaus and the late Arthur Backhaus, Edie married Doug Welch June 3,1967 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, West Bend. She worked 16 years at the Little Chute Piggly Wiggly as the deli supervisor. She also worked for Banta Corporation and Scray Cheese. Edie enjoyed arts and crafts, card making, playing scrabble, and traveling with Doug to Arizona for the last 9 winters. Edie loved visiting with people. She was a member of the Town of Rockland Homemakers as well as St Paul Lutheran Church, Greenleaf.
Survivors include her loving husband, Doug; their children: Michael (Margaret) Welch, Milwaukee and Mark (Nicole) Welch, their son Ethan, their daughter, Hanna, Suamico. Her mother, Gertrude, West Bend. Sister-in-law Cindy Backhaus. Nephews and many friends also survive Edie.
She was preceded in death by her dad, Arthur and brother, Howard.
Friends and family may call at Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care, 860 N. Webster Ave. De Pere from 3-5:45 Tuesday, November 19, 2019. Funeral service 6pm Tuesday at Cotter with Rev.
