Ed Lamere

November 15, 1941 — May 13, 2024

Ed LaMere, 82, passed away due to an unexpected illness on Monday, May 13, 2024, in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born on November 15, 1941, in Richland Center, Wisconsin and was the son of Leo Joseph and Margaret Leona (Farrell) LaMere. He married Carol Ann Suchomel on June 1, 1963 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church in Sun Prairie.


Ed was a very faith-filled and generous man. He served on the first Parish Council at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Sun Prairie. He was an active member of Resurrection Catholic Parish and served as a lector for many years. He was a member of the Father Claude Allouez Council, Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed his annual retreat to the Jesuit Retreat House in Oshkosh for 40+ years. He was a lifetime member of Kiwanis for 50 + years and was Past President and Distinguished Secretary /Treasurer of the Allouez Kiwanis. He also was Distinguished Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis Wisconsin-Upper Michigan District. He was a volunteer at St. Vincent De Paul and at St. Vincent Hospital.


Ed enjoyed traveling with Carol and had visited all 50 states. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and family camping trips as well as spending time at his cabin up north and winters in Arizona. He also relished watching and hearing about the school and sports successes of his grandchildren.


Ed is survived by his loving wife Carol; children, Joseph (Kirsten) LaMere, Mary LaMere Burich (Jeffrey), Suzanne LaMere Kiefer (Richard) and Michael (Tami) LaMere; grandchildren Peyton (Diana), Cameron, Hennessy, Aidan, Alex, Abigail, and Isabel; and step-grandsons, Christopher (Marissa) and David. He is further survived by his brother Tom (Hannah) LaMere; sisters-in-law Patricia (Charles) O’Brien, Nancy Suchomel and Jan Suchomel; brother-in-law Gary Leatherberry; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.


Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Anna LaMere, his sister Diane Leatherberry, his brothers-in law Thomas Suchomel and Eugene Suchomel.


Visitation will be held on Sunday, JUNE 2, 2024, at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Green Bay from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Knights of Columbus council number 10714 service at 6:45pm followed by a parish prayer service that will conclude the evening at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, June 3, 2024, from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024, with Father Tom Reynebeau officiating. Interment will take place at Allouez Catholic Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is established for charities that have been special to Ed and Carol.
