John Forbes Wallerius, M.D., 78, of Green Bay, Wisconsin and The Villages, Florida, has completed his wonderful life and has joined our Lord in heaven. John died peacefully on April 15, 2010, with his family gathered with him. John lived a full and beautiful life and touched many lives. Born September 13, 1931, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to A.J. Wallerius and Alice (Forbes) Wallerius (both deceased), he graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Fargo, North Dakota in 1949. John attended the University of Minnesota on a Williams Scholarship and played center for the Golden Gophers basketball team. He graduated in 1953 with a Bachelors of Science degree. John served in the United States Army and was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. He was honorably discharged from service in 1956 with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. John continued his education at the University of North Dakota where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Medicine in 1959. He was awarded a Doctorate in Medicine from Marquette University in 1961. While at Marquette, John was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. At St. Josephs Hospital in Milwaukee, John completed his internship and residency in Radiology. In 1965, John joined Green Bay Radiology, S.C. where he practiced medicine until his retirement in 1989. During his career he served as Chief of Staff of St. Vincent’s Hospital, Chairman of the Department of Radiology and as Secretary of the Brown County Medical Society. In retirement, John and Dorothy enjoyed the adventures of RV travel and Florida living. He was blessed to have enjoyed the company of many dear friends in Santa Rosa Beach and The Villages, Florida and Denmark and Green Bay, Wisconsin. John is survived by his wife of fifty years, Dorothy and their six sons and their families: Michael Wallerius of Manitowoc, Wisconsin; David Colette Wallerius of Denmark, Wisconsin; Paul Loralie Wallerius of Cornell, Wisconsin; Joseph Jodie Wallerius of Broomfield, Colorado; James Molly Wallerius of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and Peter Michelle Wallerius of Denmark, Wisconsin. John will always be loved and missed by his eighteen grandchildren: Hannah, Timothy, John, Jacob, Elizabeth, Zachary, Whitney, Katherine, Lauren, Emily, Sarah, Kerry, Ava, Roan, Georgia, Will, Jay and Grant. He is survived by his dear sisters and their families: David Jeanne Wetherby of Hobe Sound, Florida and Rock M.E. Grundman of Pittsburg, Texas. John was a loving husband, incomparable father and an honorable man. He exemplified all the virtues and values that have made this country great. His professional manner and his leadership by example are qualities that we will all miss. His passions were his family, sailing and his service to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Webster Ave., De Pere from 4p.m. until 8p.m., with a parish prayer service at 7:30p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Green Bay, from 10a.m. until 10:45a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church, Monday at 11a.m. with the Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. In lieu of plants and flowers a memorial fund has been established for the Jack and Engrid Meng Unity Hospice Residence in Green Bay.
