Dr. Arthur L. Solie

Dr. Arthur L. Solie, 81, Allouez, passed away on Saturday morning August 11, 2012. He was born on December 25, 1930 in Osseo, WI to the late Truman and Margaret (Russell) Solie. He graduated from UW River Falls, then studied at University Minnesota School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1955. From there Art practiced in Osseo and Alma,WI, from 1955 to 1957, and Plum City, WI from 1957-1976. In 1976 Art then moved to De Pere where he then went on to continue his practice until his retirement in 1996. He married the former, Mary Jo Brewer, on November 8, 1958. Family was very important to Arthur; together with Mary Jo they raised two wonderful children. Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Jo; children; Samuel E.; Sarah B.; Grandchildren; Kathryn; Nicholas; William; John. A brother, John Solie of Durand, WI. Family and friends may call on Monday, August 13, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of Memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 501 Howe St., Green Bay, with the Rev. Norman Stephenson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, Bellin College of Nursing, or the Salvation Army, in Art’s memory.
