Dorothy Mae (Geurts) Wicker

Dorothy Mae (Geurts) Wicker, 88, De Pere, died peacefully June 5, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 3, 1925 to the late Arnold and Anna (Aerts) Geurts in De Pere, WI. On June 15, 1943 she married Ignatius (Bud) Wicker. Dorothy was a member of St. Norbert College Parish, De Pere. Dorothy was an expert seamstress, with each new grandchild came a handmade quilt, and worked many years for Bea Frank and Arthur Norgaard. In addition she was an excellent cook as any member of her family could tell you, especially her homemade pies. She was also an avid Packer fan (attended the Ice Bowl) and in her later years she enjoyed reading, word searches, watching her bird feeders, playing cards, Yahtzee and had a special love for decorating for all holidays. Dorothy took pride in her green thumb and her joy for flowers. During her lifetime Dorothy had opportunities to do some traveling to California, Oklahoma, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Washington, D.C. and Germany to visit family. For many years she enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports. Her real joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her six children and their spouses survive her: Barbara Wicker of Green Bay, Roland and Jane Wicker of Fairfield Glade, TN, Carol and Carl Haese of Wrightstown, Roxanne and Scott Quade of Wonder Lake, IL, Shawn and Tom Feller of De Pere and Darlene and Scott Roebke of Wrightstown. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Darin (Danielle) Danelski, Dean (Amy) Danelski, Jason Wicker, Cory (Nicole) Haese, Matthew (Alicia) Wicker, Chris (Joy) Haese, Jeremy (Allison) Quade, Craig (Katie) Haese, Stephanie (Josh) Meyer, Andy (special friend Rachel Rush) Feller, Tony (Fiancée Brianna Grant) Feller, Amanda (special friend Kacy Pamperin) Roebke, Ryan Roebke, Jeffrey Feller, Kimberly (Fiancé Brandon Schneider) Roebke Also her 23 great-grandchildren: Cassady (special friend Mitchell Hussin) Danelski, Alex Kerkhoff, Erika Danelski, Kendyl Danelski, Alexis Hosch, Sam Hosch, Zac Haese, Luke Haese, Sam Haese, Elizabeth Danelski, Jacob Meyer, Owen Roebke, Madelyn Wicker, Herbie Haese, Noah Meyer, Lauren Wicker, Madison Quade, twins Ollie and JJ Haese, Ava Feller, Brantley Schneider and twins Ruby and Josie Haese. Dorothy is also survived by her brother-in-law, Richard (Dorothy) Wicker, sisters-in-law, Catherine Gossen, Caroline Kocken, Alice Wicker and many nieces, nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Bud, on November 19, 1993. Dorothy was the youngest of 12 children and was preceded in death by her seven brothers, and four sisters and their spouses: Frank (Ophelia), Elmer (Lillian), Leo (Marie), Robert (Esther), Ernest (Florence), Bernard “Bud” (Evelyn), Clarence “Chip” (Mary), Viola (Bill) Leiterman, Orilla (Andrew) Albers, Marcella (Harvey) Seiler, Teresa (Conrad) Elfe. She was also preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Clarence Wicker, Bernard Wicker, Norbert Kocken, and Frank Gossen; sisters-in-law, Lauretta (Wilbert) Goffard, Genevieve (Leo) Koslowski, Murella Wicker, Sister Marie Therese Wicker, and Shirley Wicker. Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere, on Sunday, June 9, from 3-8pm. A Parish Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, at St. Norbert College Parish, De Pere, from 9-10:15am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Monday, with Fr. Bob Kabat officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. The family would like to express their heartfelt thank you to the 9th floor staff of St. Vincent Hospital, Hospice Advantage, and Nancy Kustka and her staff at Artisan (Walnut Grove) Assisted Living Facility for all their loving care and compassion that they provided Dorothy. Special thanks also to Sister Laura Zelten, Pastoral Associate of St. Norbert College Parish, for her prayerful support and comfort to Dorothy and her family.
