Dorothy Lee Pronold

August 9, 1918 — November 29, 2013

Dorothy Lee Pronold passed away peacefully at home (her wish) on November 29th, 2013. She was born in Menominee, Michigan on August 9th, 1918 the daughter of Joseph and Mary Parent. She graduated from Menominee High School in 1936. While working the handkerchief counter at Laurmans department store in Marinette, WI she met visiting teacher, Norman G. Pronold. The couple married on December 26th, 1941 and spent the next 62 years together. They were blessed with four children, Beth, Pauline, Tom and George, all of whom benefitted from the lessons and upbringing they received from Dorothy as their mother. Dorothy worked for the Green Bay Public School system in the office and developed many friends through her work and volunteer activities at St. Matthew Parish. In addition Dorothy received significant personal reward from her many years of volunteer service at Bellin hospital. Dorothy took great joy from gardening, craftwork and maintaining her many longstanding friendships. She is preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles and her husband Norman. She is survived by her children Beth Skupas (Don), Pauline Fortier (Guy), Thomas Pronold and George Pronold (Liz) with nieces Sue Shipshock (Don) and Mary Gahl (Dr. William) along with 8 grandchildren, 9 great-children and 1 great-great- grandchild. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dorothy’s life on Tuesday, December 3rd with a viewing from 9:30 to 11 at St. Matthew Parish, Allouez. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrate 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at church, with Fr. Larry Seidl officiating. Entombment following a luncheon will be at Allouez Catholic Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum. Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Mathias Fuchs, the doctors and staff of the cardiac unit at Bellin Hospital, Kristine from Unity Hospice and homecare specialists Linda, Jenny, Terry and Brenda who’s loving care made Dorothy’s return home possible. We are forever grateful for making her last days so comfortable.
