Dorothy Jane Steinfeldt

Dorothy Jane Steinfeldt, 92, De Pere, loving mother, grandmother and wife, passed away Sunday September 30, 2012 with her family by her side. Daughter of John and Petronella (Raymaker) Van Handel was born September 25, 1920 in Green Bay. Dorothy Jane met Carlton J. Steinfeldt while bowling and they married on August 27, 1955 at St. Patrick Catholic Church of Green Bay. Dorothy Jane was a bookkeeper for Standard Oil for over 15 years and also worked worked for H.C. Prange Co. Dorothy Jane was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of De Pere, devoted member of the Christian Ladies Society, Eucharistic Minister, and church choir. She remained a lifelong bowler. Survivors include her children: Richard (Linda) Steinfeldt of Madison, Judith (Christopher) Wood of Green Bay, Eileen (John) Burns of Kimberly, Jean (James) Ickstadt of Woodbury, MN, Arnold (Barbara) Steinfeldt of Appleton. Grandchildren Ryan and Brenden Wood, Anastasia Burns, Alicia and Matthew Ickstadt, Morgan and Evan Steinfeldt. Step-Grandchildren Nathanael, Arick, and Anja Pustaver. Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Mary Van Handel of Green Bay, Ruppert Steinfeldt of Green Bay, Norma (Don) Norton of De Pere, Bill Clancy of Greenleaf, Irene Steinfeldt of De Pere. Numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy Jane was preceded in death by her husband Carlton on January 22, 2007, son Larry and grandson Joshua Burns. Also preceded by her brothers and sisters: Ambrose (Phyllis) Van Handel, Agnes Van Handel, Kathryn (Robert) Rankin, Jerome Van Handel. Carlton’s brothers and sisters: Ione (Joseph) Bushmaker, Marie (Mel) Colson, Bill (Rosalie) Steinfeldt, Warren Steinfeldt, John (Marian) Steinfeldt, Donald Steinfeldt, Shirley Clancy and Delilah Steinfeldt. Family and friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Ave, De Pere from 4-8pm on Wednesday, October 3rd. A parish prayer service will be held at 7:30pm Wednesday evening. Visitation will continue on Thursday, from 9:30am until 10:45am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Drive, Ledgeview, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00am. The Rev. Richard Getchel will be officiating. Interment at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, De Pere. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com The Steinfeldt family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Sheila Steinfeldt and the entire staff of Angel’s Touch, and N.E.W. Curative Rehabilitation Center, as well as Heartland Hospice. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
