On Wednesday, December 8, 2010, a vibrant and most lovely lady, Donna Rae (Eggert)(Carney) Schlesky, of Green Bay, passed away at a local hospital, with brothers at her side, after a brief but valiant fight. She was born March 5, 1932 in Green Bay, daughter of the late Paul J. and Esther (Dreier) Eggert. She graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1950 and spent her working years as an executive secretary in various capacities in television and advertising in Green Bay and Milwaukee. She married Richard Carney on December 26, 1969 in Appleton, and they were married for 28 years before he passed away on December 17, 1997. She then met Howard Schlesky at her church in Citrus Springs, Florida, and they were married on August 5, 2000. They had a brief but wonderful life together before he passed away in Green Bay on July 28, 2003. Donna resided in Milwaukee, Appleton and Citrus Springs, Florida for many years, but returned to Green Bay to the city and family she loved. Throughout her life, in Wisconsin and Florida, she enjoyed competitive golf (including a hole in one), watching football, tending her flower gardens, following politics and traveling. She was a true Christian, made long-lasting friendships and was devoted to her friends and family. She is survived by her brothers, Hollis (Jean) Eggert, Green Bay, Rodney (Bonnie) Eggert, Richfield, and Darrell (Sharon) Eggert, Green Bay. She is further survived by her step-children, Richard (Bonnie) Carney, Holiday Rogge, Steve Carney, Jennifer (Jeff) Amos, LuAnn (Steve) Staul, and Bill (Juli) Schlesky. She had 12 step-grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. Donna loved each and every one of them. Friends may call at Grace Lutheran Church, 321 South Madison Street, Green Bay, on Monday, December 13, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Reverand Larry Lange is officiating. The family is greatful for the outpouring of care and concern of friends and neighbors during these past two weeks. We are also greatful for the wonderful care of Aurora Hospice, Comfort Keepers and Aurora nurses and staff who made Donna's last days comfortable and peaceful.
