Dr. Donald Letter, age 89, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016. The son of the late Victor and Ione (Mathey) Letter was born February 14, 1927 in Appleton. He married Carol Busch on August 20, 1949, and she preceded him in death. He was a World War II veteran, where he was a paratrooper. Donald graduated from the Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1948 and had a dental practice in the Milwaukee area until retiring in 1984. During his career, he also maintained practices in Marion and Mukwonago. Following retirement, he spent many years in Florida and South Carolina before returning to Wisconsin in 2008. Don enjoyed spending summers on Chambers Island and doing projects that exemplified his creative and hands-on nature. Don had a passion and love for boats. Survivors include his children: Susan (Thomas) Ley of Green Bay, Margery Binder of Sheboygan, Laurie Letter of Santa Fe and Mark (Laura) Letter of De Pere; son-in-law, Todd Siewert; grandchildren: Kelsey (Neil) Dorner, Jessica (Raymond) Dempsey, Edward Ley, Andrew Letter, Olivia Letter, Veronica Letter, David Letter and Jacob Siewert; great-grandchildren: Charles Dorner, Ethan Dorner, Penelope Dempsey, as well as nephews and nieces and his friend Marilyn Schwenker. In addition to his wife Carol and his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his daughter Amy Siewert; mother-in-law and father-in-law Mary and Orin Busch; brother Thomas Letter and a brother-in-law Steven Busch.
