Donald "Don" Klenke

November 30, 1924 — September 28, 2014

Donald J. Klenke, 89, Allouez, entered into the glory of the tenderness of God the 28th day of September, 2014. Donald was born November 30, 1924, in Sturgeon Bay, WI., the son of the late Oscar and Beatrice (Neuville) Klenke. He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Parish since 1978. Don graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1942. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on September 27, 1943, arrived in the Pacific Theatre of Operations on June 30, 1944, returned home sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge March 30, 1946, and discharged from Fort McCoy, WI April 5, 1946. The GI bill allowed Don to earn a business degree from Spencerian College, Milwaukee where he graduated June 22, 1948. On February 4, 1950, he married Carol Fillion at American Martyrs Church in Kingsford, MI. They lived briefly in Sturgeon Bay, WI before moving to Green Bay. On Don’s 28th birthday he began his lifelong association with Norman Miller where together they were partners in operating a retail variety store, and in later years, various commercial real estate ventures throughout Wisconsin. Don's deep and lasting commitment to his Catholic faith was first instilled by his parents, reinforced by regular visits with his mother to our Lady of Good Help, and enriched by a daily rosary to Our Lady throughout his life. He will be greatly missed by seven sons and one daughter Bill (Robin) Bethesda, MD; Jim (Gail) Green Bay; Bob (Diane) Green Bay; Tom (Guillermo) DePere; John (Charlotte) Dadeville, AL; Joe (Carolyn) Wautoma; Shirlyn (Mark) Adkins, Rochester, MN; David (Becky) Milwaukee, 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and former daughter in law Deborah (Proctor) Klenke. Preceding him in death are his parents, two sisters, Lillian Zettel and Mildred “Mickey” Knaapen, and granddaughter, Sarah Klenke. Friends may call at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, on Monday, October 6, 2014, from 9:00-10:45am. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00am with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. Entombment will be at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family. “It is accomplished.
