Donald "Don" Harms

Donald (Don) Harms, 75, Sobieski, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Son of the late Fred and Lois (Krake) Harms, he was born August 31, 1935 in the Town of Doty, Wisconsin. He served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, where he met his wife, Birgit Oltersdorf. They were married in Siegburg, Germany on August 29, 1963. Don retired from Schneider Transport, and was active in Kiwanis and the YMCA. He enjoyed golfing, oil painting, skiing, and traveling. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Birgit; daughter, Heidi Harms; brother: Craig (Billie Jeanne) Harms; and sister, Bonnie (Jim) Jeranek. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lois Harms; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Heinz and Hildegard Oltersdorf; sisters: Carole (Pat) O’Keefe, and Jean (Conrad) Johnson. Friends may call Saturday, March 12, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 2335 S. Webster Ave, Allouez. Funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday at church, with the Rev. Peter Speckhard officiating. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Townsend, WI.
